World No Tobacco Day observed

Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) observed World No-Tobacco Day under the theme 'Tobacco: Threat to Our Environment' at its Palace Gate, Imphal East office on Tuesday.
The observance was held with Manipur Peace & Integrity Council (MAPI Council) president KC Romeo as chief guest and CADA president Hijam Priyokumar as functional president, while Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima) president Sapam Bimola and Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL), Bishnupur president Lourembam (o) Pramo were the guests of honour.
Meanwhile, Noney Battalion of 22 Sector Assam Rifles and IGAR (East) organised a lecture on Anti-Tobacco Day at Kekru Naga village in Noney district on Wednesday to create awareness about harmful effect of using tobacco as well prevent large-scale deforestation.
Over 30 youths, who attended the lecture programme, were also made aware that every year, more than 8 million deaths are reported from tobacco consumption and it is never too late to adopt measures for healthy lifestyle and also protect our future genera tion from ill effects of tobacco consumption.
Sajik Tampak and Khoupum Battalions of IGAR (S) also organised awareness lectures to commemorate World No Tobacco Day' for students and locals of Chandel and Noney districts on Tuesday.
Posters, pamphlets and handouts were also distributed during the awareness programme.
