MLA accused of trying to cover-up crime

Imphal, December 29 2021: Ningthoujam Roshan, elder brother of student Ningthoujam Rohit who was killed in the Heirok incident, has condemned alleged attempts made by the MLA and his workers to cover-up the crime committed by the MLA's younger brother.

Addressing a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here Wednesday, Roshan said that instead of helping in ensuring delivery of justice, Heirok MLA Th Radheshyam has been continuously trying to cover-up the crime after his younger brother Th Biswajit alias Putro, who, along with other armed BJP workers in Heirok AC forced into his (Roshan) house and shot dead Rohit, while injuring his father Premchand.

The claims made by the MLA on December 21 that Biswajit was out-of-station and putting the blame on 5 other people involved in the case is false, he contended.

Commenting on the attempts being made to falsify the statements made by his injured father, Roshan said that the police had arrested 6 people in connection with the death.

He then urged the people not to believe the lies being spewed by the MLA and his workers, who instead of sharing the grief of the bereaved family, are sharing fake concerns though local dailies.

Roshan further urged the MLA not to continue protecting the accused person in the case by tampering with the CCTV footage, adding that it would not help resolve the issue at hand.

He also appealed to the state government to award befitting punishment to the culprits.
