JUC stages sit-in protest

Jiri United Committee (JUC) with the locals of Jiribam staged a sit-in protest in front of Jiribam Congress office located at Babupara, Jiribam today condemning the brutal murder of women and children in Jiribam and the recent decision of the Central Government to reimpose AFSPA in Manipur.
Speaking to media persons, Maipaksana Mangang, chairman, JUC, said that the sit-in protest was held to condemn Kuki aggression in the State, the brutal killing of women and children by Kuki militants, the Central Government's action of reimposing AFSPA in the State and the missing case of Laishram Kamal Babu in Leimakhong.
He continued to add that JUC also condemns the killing of a student by the Manipur police at Jiribam in the strongest terms.
Several placards bearing messages such as "Repeal AFSPA," "We want peace," "Stop arresting village volunteers," "Central Government must not divide Manipur," "Declare Hmar village volunteers as terrorists" were displayed during the protest.
