Imphal, September 27 2022:
A team of United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) and Naga Women Union (NWU) visited Puiluan village under Nungba sub-division in Tamenglong district on Monday and met villagers regarding the alleged bomb planting incident.
UNC president S Kho John, general secretary S Milan, information secretary Stephen, NWU president Asha, ANSAM general secretary AC Thotso and others were part of the team that visited the village.
The UNC team had a separate meeting with the villag-ers including the chairman and his team on September 26 evening, during which the team was briefed by the villagers about the incident.
"During the interaction with the village council and women society leaders, it has been confirmed that a constable by the name Thiyam Ashok Singh of the 87 battalion CRPF posted at Puilaun village had planted trap-bomb near NH 37 at about 7:30 am.
The CRPF jawan was caught red handed by the women folks," UNC alleged.
UNC said: "The intention has not been revealed to us, but the constable admittedly told to his post commander DSP RK Tonglun (CRPF) in the presence of the village council and women folks, that he planted the bomb under the directive of Assam Rifles".
UNC further stated, "For immediate investigations and stringent actions against all the ranks and files of these criminal personnel of the security forces involved, UNC will write a representation to the home ministry and other authorities concerned.
Failure on the part of the government to investigate and deliver justice, UNC will see that these criminal jawans do not go scot free" .
