18th Surgical camp held in Tamenglong

Imphal, November 26 2021:
Tamenglong district health society in association with JNIMS, Imphal organised 18th surgical camp from November 24 to 26 at District Hospital, Tamenglong.
A release by 44 Assam Rifles informed that during the camp, 26 major operations including laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, open Cholecystectomy, hernia, appendix, caesarian section, hysterectomy and 31 minor operations were successfully conducted free of cost.
The release also said the goodwill initiative of district health society and JNIMS Imphal was appreciated by forest minister Awangbow Newmai, who is also the minister in-charge of Tamenglong district, and 44 Assam Rifles.
The battalion's medical staff not only extended assistance and support but also provided free medicines for the conduct of the camp.
District Health Society under CMO Tamenglong Dr Gracy and a team from JNIMS led by surgery department's Prof N Jitendra, anaesthesia department's professor S Thoiba and OB gynaecologist associate professor Dr Helen Kamei, conducted the surgical operations.
The team had 18 doctors from JNIMS, district health society assisted by OT sisters, technicians and medical staff of 44 Assam Rifles.
On the successful completion, the battalion felicitated professor N Jitendra and his team for their support, help and contribution towards people of Tamenglong and society at large.
Tamenglong battalion also thanked Dr Gracy for extending health services to far flung areas of the district.
Till date the battalion in collaboration with district health society Tamenglong and KPI have conducted 84 medical camps taking health services to far flung areas of Manipur, added the release.
