Imphal, May 24 2021:
It is time to take up stricter measures in the fight against the second wave of the pandemic.
Dr Haobam Indrakumar, founder president, Leisem Pathou, said this in a statement issued today that and added the the Government should take up initiative to provide essential items to the needy families during the lockdown and curfews.
All the people, with and without testing certificates, entering the state through various checkpoints at Jiribam, Mao and Moreh should all be tested without any exception, added the statement.
He also urged the Government to take up measures to have everyone tested and vaccinated in the coming days to ensure safety of everyone and also to carry out mass awareness programme at remote places in the state.
The Government should also consider if any other steps can be taken up to counter the pandemic beside lockdown and curfew as these two steps posed a serious trouble to the poorer section of the society.
Such measures deprived the daily wage earner of their livelihood as all forms of activities have been put on hold by the lockdown and curfew imposed by the Government to curb the spread of the virus, he added in the statement.
