Imphal, July 23 2024: Family members of Thokchom Rabina and Chungkham Sanjit in association with Working Committee of Apunba Lup organised the 15th anniversary observance of Khwairamband Keithel fake encounter at Lamsang Keithel and Khurai Kongpal on Tuesday.

Floral tributes were offered to photos of the two victims of the infamous fake encounter case on the occasion.

While attending the events, Apunba Lup coordinator Phulindro Konsam said that people of the state had high hopes of getting justice after the Tehelka news magazine published reports on the fake encounter along with photographic evidences.

One of the commando personnel involved in the incident had admitted that he shot Sanjit with his service pistol.

Following the judgment of the Session Court, Sanjit's mother had submitted a letter to CBI for file a petition to the High Court of Manipur challenging the judgment, recounted Phulindro.

He then drew attention of the present government to investigate the numerous fake encounter cases reported in the state for decades to instil trust among the people.
