Imphal, August 21 2021:
All Manipur VDF Welfare Association has urged the government to discuss its demands and arrive at a resolution during the ongoing Manipur Legislative Assembly session.
In a release, Association's publicity secretary Md Sirajuddin praised the chief minister for meeting the representatives of the Association on August 8 and giving a written assurance with regard to the memorandum containing charter of demands including framing of Rules and Regulation for VDF based on Manipur Police Manual Act, paying of VDF honorarium equivalent to 75 per cent salary of regular police constable until the RR are framed, paying of 13th month pay and update details of all the 10,050 VDF personnel of the state to Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Stating that grievances of the VDF personnel could be addressed if the government discusses their issues during the ongoing Assembly session, the secretary also pointed out that as state government recentlv issued notification for revising the pay of contract employees VDF personnel too deserve similar treatment.
It would be a great gesture if the VDF personnel are given the same benefits as other Covid-19 frontline warriors, Md Sirajuddin said.
He also mentioned that the representatives of the Association's district committees had met with MLAs concerned recently and submitted a memorandum on the matter.
The MLAs assured of putting up the demands in the ongoing Assembly session and bring out a resolution, he recalled.
