Tailoring and embroidery machines distributed to Manipur Central jail inmates

Additional Chief Secretary Social Welfare Department, P Vaiphei has said that people in jail should not be demotivated by their past and work towards making a better future.
P Vaiphei made the remark while distributing tailoring and embroidery machines to inmates of Manipur Central jail in collaboration with Manipur State Women Development Corporation Limited today.
Inmates of Manipur Central Jail have been getting vocation training under the Social Welfare department since 2013 with the aim of providing a livelihood to the inmates when they get out of jail.
Training was provided to the inmates batchwise with each batch made up of 15 inmates.
Social Welfare Director Ngangom Uttam also said that some inmates who had received vocational training have already opened their own shops/institute after getting out of jail after completing their sentence.
Such training is providing the inmates with a better future, he added.
IG (Prison) L Kipgen expressed desire for the training programme to be continued and extended to numerous illegal Myanmar Nationals in Manipur Central Jail.
