Army establishes skill development centre

Imphal, February 17 2025:
Under its Operation Sadbhavna endeavour, the Indian Army has established and inaugurated a Skill Development Centre for Sewing at Leitanpokpi village in Bishnupur district to contribute towards women's empowerment and community development.
Informing that the centre, inaugurated on Monday in the presence of locals and senior army officials, aims to equip local women with vocational training in tailoring and embroidery, fostering self-reliance and financial independence, PRO Defence said in a statement that the centre is equipped with 22 electrical and manual sewing machines, along with embroidery machines, to provide hands-on training in garment stitching, embroidery and tailoring techniques.
The village pradhan, Anandi, expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its role in opening new avenues for aspiring entrepreneurs and job seekers.
This initiative underscores the Indian Army's unwavering commitment in supporting local communities amid ongoing challenges in the region.
Through such efforts, the Army continues to promote livelihood generation, well-being, and public welfare, added the PRO .
