Don't post/upload unedited press releases: EGM

Imphal, September 14 2022: Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) has appealed to all members of its Facebook page to avoid posting or sharing unedited version of any press releases and urged organisation concerned to send their releases to individual media houses instead of uploading on the social media.

The EGM's made the appeal after some individual (or group) reportedly shared press releases of a proscribed/banned armed outfit on its facebook page.

The Facebook page of the Guild, it said, was opened by EGM with a sole objective of promoting healthy interaction with the public and editors of Manipur.

It is a forum for highlighting public issues in a legal manner, said the release.

"However, the act of the individual of posting/sharing unedited press releases directly has a potential of compromising the ethics of journalists.

The post has since been removed by the admin following the issue being brought to the knowledge of EGM", added the release.
