IDP found dead in relief camp

Imphal, November 11 2024: An internally displaced person (IDP) staying at the Sawombung Temporary Shelter Home under Lamlai Police Station, was found hanging on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Amusana Thiyam (52) w/o Ibohanbi Thiyam of Leitanpokpi Maning Leikai.

According to a police report, Amusana was found hanging with a rope from a ceiling fan in Room no 10 of the Sawombung Temporary Shelter Home Block no 3 around 11 am Monday.

She had fled from Leitanpokpi in October last and had been staying with her husband, son and granddaughter.

Amusana allegedly took the extreme step while her husband had left to pick up their granddaughter from school and her son had gone for work.

On being informed, a forensic science team arrived and inspected the scene.

Subsequently, Lamlai police registered a UD case followed by conduct of the post mortem at JNIMS morgue.

After the examination, the body was handed over to family for the final rites.
