22nd foundation day of AMKIL celebrated

The 22nd foundation day of Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) was celebrated at Meetei Society Hall, Khuga Tampak, here, on Thursday.
The programme was attended by AMKIL president Lourembam Nganbi, Nupi Samaj president Thokchom Ramani, Ima Leimarel Apunba Lup president A Nayani Leima, UCM vice president YK Dhiren, Meitei Society Churachandpur president M Thoiba, Meetei Youth Organisation president and other leaders of Meetei community.
At the event, most of the speaker highlighted the need for unity and living in peace and harmony among the various communities in the state.
AMKIL advisor Khangembam Adandani said that people have a tendency to talk as hills and valley which will not help, as all of us must protect our land, culture and tradition from foreign forces since it is our land and all of us are one as people of Manipur and have a long history that bind us together.
Mentioning about imminent arrival of train in Manipur within few years from now, she observed that without unity it will be disastrous for the people of Manipur, more so if they continued with the tendency of division as hills and valley which can worsen to tribe-based division.
Public must remember that the suffering of a group or tribe will also be, nonetheless, borne by others, she further stressed.
AMKIL president L Nganbi also echoed the same idea and stated that state's denizens need to co-operate with one another, otherwise, the Treaty of Yanda-bo-like effect that divided the Manipuris, may be witnessed.
