Protest rally held against Assam Rifles

Thoubal, August 08 2023: As part of the mass protest against the Assam Rifles organised by Committee on Protest Against Assam Rifles, a protest rally participated by large number of women protestors was taken out in Lilong area, on Monday.

The rally organised by Urup Arapti Development Co-ordinating Committee kick started from Urup Arapti and proceeded towards NH-102 till Lilong Arapti Lamkhai where they were blocked by Thoubal district police.

The rally returned and ended at Urup Arapti.

The rallyists used placards and shouted slogans like "Remove Assam Rifles from Manipur", "We condemn the act of Assam Rifles", "Go back Assam Rifles" Thoubal Ningombam Apunba Meira Paibi Lup also staged protest agitation at Thoubal Ningombam Keithel demanding removal of Assam Rifles from the state.

The protestors also formed human chains.

Meanwhile, Khongjom ward no 6, 8, 9 and Chingtham and Tekcham Apunba Meira Paibi Lup organised sit-in protest at Khongjom.
