BSF, AR units celebrate Diwali

The 182nd battalion of Border Security Force (BSF), Koirengei celebrated Deepawali at its Koirengei campus on Thursday with great zest and fervour.
The celebration programme was organised under the supervision of Commandant of 182 Bn BSF Bipin Kumar.
A press statement of the battalion informed that the programme was attended by Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip, all officers of BSF Sector Headquarters CI (Ops) Manipur, 182 Bn BSF, all available troops and families in the Koirengei Campus.
In the run up to the festival, candles were lit and lighting crackers were burst to show peace and harmony amongst the people.
Chief guest Yamthong Haokip addressed the gathering and extended wishes that the festival of lights may illuminate good fortune and bring lots of glory, joy, happiness, success and good health to the entire BSF troops and members of the BSF family, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Maram Battalion of 22 Sector Assam Rifles of HQ IGAR (East) celebrated Diwali with local people of Senapati district.
A statement issued by PRO PIB (DW) stated that the festival of light symbolises the triumph of light over darkness.
While it has some religious roots, it has become a secular holiday in many areas of the world and across several cultures.
This year Diwali was celebrated on November 4 but the celebration lasts for a week.
Maram Battalion invited Naga people in Senapati and Mao.
Candles were lit, crackers burst and sweets distributed and thoughts were shared to build a better relationship.
As Diwali brings happiness, Assam Rifles wishes happiness and joy to all the people, the statement added.
