BoB gold heist accused sent to jail

Imphal, October 05 2024:
Court of CJM, Imphal West has ordered judicial remand for 15 days for the three accused of the gold heist of Rs 4 crore from Bank of Baroda Manipur University branch.
The three accused Khaidem Jackiechand (38), son of Kh Kula of Khurkhul Makha Leikai, Akoijam Renash (20), son of A Premjit of Ningombam Awang Leikai and Ganga Ningombam (41), wife of Nongmaithem Johnson of Kakching Makha Leikai were produced before the Court praying for granting judicial remand by the police on Saturday, while the accused had filed an application for granting of bail.
During the hearing, the prosecution argued that the accused need to be interrogated further stating that as per evidences found in the investigation, the crime could not have happened without the involvement of bank staff.
Their call records and location needs to be verified.
They need to be further questioned for any other accomplices in the case, the prosecution said while praying for judicial custody.
After hearing both the counsels, the Court observed that the bail applications of the three accused stand rejected considering the stage of investigation and they are to be remanded to 15-day judicial custody till September 19 .
