AR pays homage to Col Viplav, soldiers

Imphal, February 05 2025: Assam Rifles organised a series of events to honour the sacrifices made by Colonel Viplav Tripathi, and riflemen Suman Swargiary, RP Meena, NK Konyak, and Shyamal Das during their service in Manipur on November 13, 2021 .

Parents of late Colonel Viplav unveiled the memorial platform at the gates of Khuga Garrison to rename it as 'Viplav Garrison' .

Next of kin of Viplav Tripathi and rifleman Suman Swargiary laid wreaths at the memorials.

Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) Maj General Ravroop Singh, encouraged the gathering to seek motivation from their valour and sacrifice.

The inaugural Colonel Viplav Tripathi Memorial Football Tournament, held on January 17, 2025, was attended by the relatives of the brave heroes.

The tournament featured 14 teams, with Zengsol Football club emerging as the title winners in the women's category and Sanggam Football club clinching the men's title.

The final matches were attended by an enthusiastic crowd, as the winners and runners-up were felicitated with rolling trophies, cash prizes, and other rewards.

The event lauded the commitment and social responsibility of the Assam Rifles, reinforcing patriotism and national integration among the local population, said a PRO IGAR (S) release.
