Lamenting that they are being deprived of their assured benefits, former members of armed groups, who have joined mainstream after staying in rehabilitation centre following their surrender to the government, have urged the government to look into the matter.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday, one of the surrendered insurgents, Chaoba (name changed) confessed that he was a former member of the proscribed Prepak Pro and surrendered privately to the government.
He started staying in a rehabilitation centre after screening since May 7, 2018.But even after three years of surrender, the government is yet to provide his onetime payment and stipend among other benefits assured to him, he added.
On the other hand, those who surrendered in groups are still availing the aforementioned benefits, the former insurgent pointed out while contending that those who surrendered privately are denied the same benefits.
Drawing attention of the government, he urged for providing the assured benefits to all surrendered cadres of armed outfits.
