Farmer dedicates produce to village volunteers

In a commendable gesture, a Bishnupur district farmer has dedicated his farm produces including cabbage and other vegetables to volunteers guarding Meetei villages from Kuki militants' attack since outbreak of the ethnic crisis on May 3, 2023 .
Hailing from Kwashiphai village ward number 9 under Bishnupur assembly constituency, Thoudam Ibungo (48), son of (late) Ibomcha Singh, along with his better half Rita, on Friday donated their farm produce to village volunteers through Bishnupur Akoiba Apunba Lup.
Speaking to the media, Ibungo pointed out that he could not be in the battlefield as he is the breadwinner of his family working as a mason by profession.
With the hope to assist the village volunteers neutralise aggression of Kuki militants, Ibungo said he decided to donate around 10,000 cabbages along with other vegetables he had grown in his one 'Sangam' farm.
Pointing out that normal life has been seriously affected by the on-going crisis with the worst affected being the daily wagers, he appealed to all concerned to collectively fight those posing threat to integrity of Manipur and contribute towards ensuring academic career of the students.
Expressing concern over inability of the government to end the crisis, Ibungo hoped that his donations will give strength to the village volunteers in defeating elements inimical to interest of Manipur.
The donations were handed over to Lup president Devchand and Women's Wing president O Bina Devi in the presence of other members.
