Outstanding sportspersons of Singjamei AC feted

Imphal, December 30 2021: Oinam Romen Singh, who is art intending candidate of National People's Party (NPP) for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from Singjamei AC, felicitated outstanding sportspersons of the assembly segment particularly in Thang-Ta, cycling, body building and other sports disciplines.

During the felicitation function organised jointly by NPP Singjamei Block and National People's Youth Front (NPYF) at his Singjamei Oinam Thingel residence Romen said that encouraging youth to take part in sporting events is necessary nowadays as it will help the youth to keep themselves healthy, develop discipline and think positively apart from enhancing Manipur's profile to the global fraternity.

According to Romen, felicitation of outstanding sportspersons is done generally when they win medals and bring laurels for the state but this should be stopped and the habit of encouraging and moulding them from the grassroots level should be initiated.

He also suggested that school curriculum should include at least one sports discipline as this will help young students to take part insports widely.

The event was also attended by NPP Manipur unit state general secretary Senjam Surjit, NPP Singjamei Block advisor L Gunadhor Singh and NPP Singjamei Block president K Harimohan Singh.
