'Need to halt corrupt politicians from reaching assembly'

Stressing the need for a collective effort to prevent corrupt politicians looting public fund from reaching the state assembly, CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar has called upon the people of state to take a stand for a better Manipur in the 2022 state assembly election.
While launching the election campaign of CPI candidate in Khurai assembly constituency RK Amusana at Laikhulembi Shanglen, Khurai Sajor Leikai on Wednesday, Sotinkumar said that assembly is the house that will decide the fate of the state and its people.
It is a place for patriots but not of drug dealers and corrupt politicians, who have accumulated wealth by robbing public fund.
Unfortunately, such corrupt politicians are trying to make the state assembly their den by hijacking the election and democratic rights of the public.
The public need to take a stand against such politicians, he cautioned.
While contending that BJP is full of such corrupt politicians and they are using money and muscle to win the elections, he pointed out that the poll related violence that occurred'in Heirok and Andro assembly constituencies are clear examples of BJP's aggressive poll campaign.
In order to prevent such incidents from happening and stop this disturbing trend, the public, especially the youth need to take a stand and give the right mandate to dethrone such power-hungry politicians and party, he said.
CPI had always played major role in bringing positive changes in the state and the country.
The party is behind the withdrawal of AFSPA from the seven assembly segments of Imphal, shifting Assam Rifles from Kangla, introduction of NFSA scheme and MGNREGS.
The party, if elected to power, can bring more positive changes in the state, he said while calling for public support in the 2022 election.
CPI national executive member for former minister Dr M Nara, CPI assistant secretary M Joykumar, state secretariat members A Lala, S Sorojini, All Manipur Nupi Marup secretary L Sunitibala and N Singhajit, CPI-M secretary Ksh Shanta and CPI veteran leader K Mani attended the event as presidium members.
A book on the life and works of RK Amusana was also released on the occasion.
