The Fisheries Department has announced the terms and conditions for the upcoming State Level Fish Fair-cum-Fish Crop Competition, 2024, scheduled for November 2 at Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal East district.
Slated one day ahead of the Ningol Chakkouba Festival, the fair will showcase local fish produce and encourage fish farmers to contribute to the state's growing aquaculture sector.
According to a notification issued by fisheries director on Monday, fish farmers must produce minimum of 1,000 kilograms of fish and agree to sell their yield at the department-set rate for the fair.
The department also committed to covering the transportation costs for participating farmers, easing their logistical burdens.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top producers, with Rs 1 lakh for the first prize, Rs 70,000 for the second, and Rs 50,000 for the third.
Additionally, a special prize of Rs 20,000 will be granted to the highest producer of indigenous fish, while 20 consolation prizes of Rs 10,000 each will be distributed to select participants.
Interested fish farmers have been advised to apply through their respective district fishery officers or chief executive officers by October 30 to secure a place in the event, it added.
