Assam Rifles fetes newly commissioned officers

Imphal, December 27 2024: Assam Rifles on Friday felicitated six newly commissioned officers from Manipur in a ceremony held at Mantripukhri Garrison.

The event was attended by the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), who also interacted with the officers and their families.

According to PRO IGAR (S), the newly commissioned officers included lieutenant Kelvin Oinam, an alumnus of RIMC and NDA, commissioned into the infantry; lieutenant Gegerin Konsam, commissioned into Army Aviation hailing from a family with a background in civil service; lieutenant Chongtham Bidyasagar Singh; and lieutenant Vivitto Irengbam, both commissioned into the Artillery who come from families with business backgrounds.

Assistant commandant RNG Shungwar, commissioned into Assam Rifles, who lost his father, a farmer, and assistant commandant Naorem Romendrajit Singh, who served with 14 Assam Rifles before being commissioned into 42 Assam Rifles, were also felicitated, the PRO informed.

The PRO further conveyed that the ceremony celebrated the officers' achievements and recognised the support of their families, reinforcing Assam Rifles' commitment to fostering the region's youth and development.
