Outreach prog on SVEEP campaign held

Imphal, February 27 2024:
An Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) focusing on Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was held at Kamakhya Pemton College, Hiyangthang in Imphal West district on Monday.
College principal Dr W Nimai presided over the event, which was also attended by Physics Department head Dr Mutum Indrakumar and political science department's Dr Nongthombam Brojendro as presidium members.
Dr Brojendro, who spoke as a resource person, gave insights on ethical voting practices and common malpractices witnessed during elections, particularly for the benefit of first time voters in attendance.
The session also included discussions on Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (WPAT) systems.
To engage the participants actively, an on-the-spot quiz contest was conducted with Diana Salam securing the first position, followed by Thiyam Pre-mika and RK Joysana in second and third place respectively.
The winners received prizes and certificates, while certificates of participation were distributed to all attendees.
Both teaching and non-teaching faculty members were present at the event, thereby enriching the discourse on voter education and electoral participation.
