Imphal, August 21 2021:
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has asked the state government to increase intake capacity of government higher secondary schools located in Imphal so that maximum students could get admission.
According to a statement of AMSU.
large number of students thronged government higher secondary schools particularly those located in Imphal area seeking admission and this indeed is a moment to cherish for the government.
It would be a success story of the government and beneficial to suffering people of the state if large numbers of students get admitted and study at government higher secondarv schools.
In view of the intense second wave of COVID-19, HSLC examination of BOSEM could.not be conducted and candidates were promoted thereby resulting in high pass percentage.
In view of this, AMSU had already apprised Governor, chief minister, education minister and ed ucation department on August 3 through a memorandum for increasing the intake capacity of government schools so that maximum students could be accommodated.
Had the government taken the suggestions of AMSU seriously and done the needful, no students would have worry about getting admission and studying in government schools, the statement said.
According to AMSU, parents of numerous students have lodged complaints that they could not send their children to private schools as COVID-19 pandemic affected their sources of livelihood and exhausted the hard-earned money.
Thus, the only option left is to seek admission in gov ernment schools in order to ensure continuation of education of their children, AMSU recounted and called the government to increase intake capacity of government schools particularly those located in Imphal area so that career of future pillars of the society do not end abruptly.
