Red Shield celebrates Swarnim Vijay Varsh

Remembering the guts, grit and glory of the gallant Indian soldiers in the 1971 war, Bishnupur battalion of Red Shield Division celebrated Swarnim Vijay Varsh in Bishnupur district on Monday.
The event was marked by welcoming "The Victory Flame" which was lit to commemorate 50 glorious years of India's victory over Pakistan in the war.
The celebrations included a wreath laying ceremony by veterans, SP Bishnupur and Company Commander Bishnupur battalion at the unit war memorial.
Ex-servicemen, police officers, lawyers, doctors, fire brigade staff, women organisations, NCC cadets, students and civil dignitaries of the district also attended the programme among others.
As a part of Go Green Drive' and as a mark of remembering the event, trees saplings were also planted while 1971 War artefacts in the custody of the battalion were displayed for the attendees with a small brief account given on each by the troops.
Company Commander of the battalion felicitated the veterans and lauded them for their contribution and selfless service to the nation.
