Imphal, November 12 2021:
While informing that it will launch intense drives against addictive substances from Saturday, Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) has urged all concerned to stop bringing in addictive substances into the state.
In a release, secretary general Nickerson Khumancha said that though AIMS treats the non-locals residing in the state with due affection such considerate attitude should not be taken advantage of.
He lamented that some non-locals are doing whatever they like, even selling addictive substances including tobacco products in the markets and controlling the price of items at their own whims.
Pointing out that Inner Line Permit system has been im plemented in the state to make sure that the visit and stay of the outsiders in the state are regulated; Nickerson noted the presence of many outsiders conducting business without having proper identity cards.
It is wrong for the higher ups to encourage such outsiders, he stated.
He urged the landlords not to keep non-local tenants who did not have proper identity cards and requisite documents.
Moreover, AIMS will keep an eye on outsiders conducting illegal business, Nickerson made it clear, while hoping that the government will also look into the matter.
He further urged the people to support the movement against those outsiders who are trading in prohibited substances.
