Recognising true leader will bring change to society: Tomba

Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Lup (LUKANIL) Trustee member Namoijam Tomba has stated that only by recognising and following the true leader, will there be changes in the society.
He made the statement at the observance of the 80th birth anniversary of Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba and the 12th foundation day celebration of PANDAM, launched by Akaba as editor, on Saturday at Shrine of Integrity Park, Wakha Leima Ching.
Tomba recounted the contributions and sacrifices of Chingsubam Akaba, especially with regard to promotion of Meetei Mayek.
He continued that there is a need for the people to be able to identify the real and true leader of the state and follow him/her in bringing positive changes to the society and state.
PAMDAM managing editor Moirangthem Naokhomba Meetei recalled how the daily was established in 1979 under the leadership of Akaba.
The daily halted publication in 1982 due to financial difficulties but revived in 2013 as an afternoon daily.
He also recounted the contributions of Akaba including the formation of Meetei National Front in 1970 and MEELAL in 2003.He also saw to the establishment of a Language Department under the state government, before his untimely demise on January 1, 2007 .
