Imphal, February 08 2025: Condemning the killing of a village volunteer near Salungpham School by police commando on December 14 last year and the arrests of six village volunteers, Seijang Apunba Meira Paibi staged sit-in protest at Seijang under Lamlai A/C on Saturday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, a meira paibi member appealed to the government authority to stop arresting village volunteers and demanded punishment to the police commando involved in the killing of village volunteers.

MLA and ministers should know that they sleep soundly in their bed because of the sacrifice of the village volunteers protecting the land.

She questioned why chief minister, MLAs and ministers do not understand the sufferings of the people living in foothills and periphery areas.

There is no reason for chief minister and ministers to attend Kumbh Mela while the state is still burning, she rued.

She further demanded transfer of Thoubal SP to Churachandpur or Kangpoki, repeal AFSPA and resignation of CM .
