Five displaced families resettled

Imphal, August 04 2021:
Kangpokpi district police facilitated smooth resettlement of five displaced families of Namthanhang village under Kangchup-Geljang sub-division of Kangpokpi district back to their native village on Wednesday.
According to police, the five families were compelled to leave the village in 2016 due to an unwanted situation.
In connection with the displacement, the High Court of Manipur passed an order in August 2019 stating that Kangpokpi district administration shall have to resettle these displaced families after assessing the situation prevailing in the village.
As the environment was not conducive then, they could not be resettled earlier.
The matter for peaceful resettlement of the displaced families was recently taken up again by the district police in right earnest, by meeting all the stakeholders concerned and managed to peacefully resettle the five displaced families in their village.
The village chief, members of village authority and others resolved to uphold the law of the land in the interest of peace and prosperity of the future generations of Namthanjang village, police said.
