CM, Governor greet on Mera Chaoren Houba

Manipur Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and chief minister N Biren Singh extended Mera Chaoren Houba greetings to the people of Manipur.
In his message, Governor Acharya pointed out that the traditional festival of Mera Chaoren Houba, a festival for preserving and promoting unity and integrity amongst all the communities settled in Manipur, is Celebrated on the advent of Mera-tha (Manipuri lunar month of September-October).
He expressed hope that the festival will usher in the bond of unity, integrity and understanding, deepening age old traditions resulting in peace and prosperity.
Meanwhile, greeting the people on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba, chief minister N Biren said the festival which has withstood the test of time, promotes social cohesion and unity in the Manipuri society.
"Today, as we ward off divisive forces trying to disturb the age-old system of interdependence amongst the different communities of the state, the festival could provide a platform to strengthen the bond between the communities.
The festival also promotes people from diverse communities to connect with one another and foster a sense of togetherness," he said.
