Bodies provide aid to VVs, IDPs

Imphal, January 02 2025:
Eastern Popular Club, Khurai, along with Coordinating Body Khurai extended assistance to village volunteers (VVs) and internally displaced persons (IDPs) .
In a statement, the Coordinating Body announced that assistance in the form of food supplies was provided to IDPs seeking shelter in Yaingangpokpi area following bomb and gun attacks by armed Kuki militants, which began on December 28 last in Thamnapokpi, Shantikhongbal and Sabungkhok Khunou areas under Lamlai assembly constituency.
The aid distribution also covered village volunteers defending periphery villages.
Additionally, rice was distributed to 12 households of Sanjenlok Sinam village under Khundrakpam assembly constituency.
The body further appealed to the district administration to take necessary measures to support Sanjenlok Sinam village, which has been deserted due to the Kuki militants' attacks.
With only 12 households remaining, the village is at the risk of disappearing entirely, potentially leading to the extinction of the Meetei village.
It also condemned injury caused to Impact TV cameraman L Kavichandra in firing by Kuki militants.
It also urged the state government to take firm action against Kuki militants.
