Court grants bail to accused in arson case

Imphal, December 01 2024: The court of CJM, Imphal West on Sunday granted bail to one Thingbaijam Sushila (46) w/o (L) Romeo of Keishamthong Irom Pukhri Mapal, who was arrested in in connection with vandalising an MLA's residence, while rejecting the application filed by Lamphel police station for formal arrest of the accused.

Imphal PS had rounded up Sushila in connection with a case registered by Lamphel PS regarding an attack at the local MLA's house on November 16.On Sunday, Sushila was produced before the court of CJM with a prayer for judicial remand.

The defence counsel objected to the remand and submitted a prayer for bail.

After examining the materials on record and the submissions of the APP and the defence counsel, the court granted bail to Sushila on execution of a PR bond.

Lamphel PS also filed an application to take custody of Sushila in connection with another case but was rejected by the court.

It then instructed Sushila to assist the IO of the case when needed.
