MTU Faculty Union felicitates Toycathon prize winners

Manipur Technical University Faculty Union (MTUFU) on Tuesday organised a felicitation programme for Team Thoibi, which participated and received 'Award for Appreciation' along with prize money at the Grand Finale of Toycathon 2021-2022 (Physical Edition) held at Galgotias University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh from May 23 to 26.In a release, MTUFU informed that the programme was attended by MTU vice chancellor Dr Bhabeshwar Tongbram as chief guest and presided over by MTUFU president and MTU Department of Mathematics assitant professor Dr Thokchom Chhatrajit Singh.
As part of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan', the inter-ministerial initiative Toycathon 2021 was conceived to challenge India's innovative minds to conceptualise novel toy and games based on Indian civilisation, history, culture, mythology and ethos.
Team Thoibi consisted of four MTU students namely Longjam Priyashwori Devi and Oinam Geeta Devi, both studying in eight semester in Department of ECE along with Sorenshangbam Monika Devi and Pratiksha Samom, both eight semester students at Department of CSE as participants and one faculty mentor Department of ECE assistant professor Yengkhom Chandrika Devi.
Team Thoibi developed an eco-friendly and handmade doll name 'Eta Laiphadibi' the idea of which was to deliver a simple way to educate pre-school learners.
The idea also incorporates schemes like 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhhao', 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', 'Environment Conservation', 'Digital India' and 'Climate Change', the release added.
