Imphal, May 31 2022:
PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a one-day 'potential northeast outreach programme on agri export - focus state Manipur' at Hotel Classic Grande, here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry secretary general Saurav Sanyal highlighted the initiatives taken up by the ministry of agriculture and the state government for exporting agriculture and horticulture products of the state.
Ginger from north east is among other horticulture products which have high demand in different countries, he said, while emphasising on setting up a proper supply chain to ensure regular supply of export quality products.
On the other hand, Asian Highway No 1 and 2 will come up in the northeast region and these highways hold great potential for bringing economic development in the region.
It will also attract major businesses in the state, which will also consequently spur infrastructure development, he added.
MOMA project officer Dr Jubit Singh explained about the export policy of agriculture and horticulture products of the state in other countries and the importance of understanding the market regulation of the destination country.
Lack of quality to meet the market regulation of the destination country, bad transport facility and delay in customs clearance are the major roadblocks in exporting perishable items, he added.
