Imphal, December 31 2021: The month-long 82nd Nupee Lal observance organised by Nupee Lal Memorial Association Manipur from December 1 concluded on Friday at its head office located at Tera Keithel.

During the valedictory function marked by offering of floral tributes to the brave Manipuri women who took part in the Nupee Lal movement, association secretary (organisation) Nongthombam Bina said that it has been observing Nupee Lal every year on December 12 .

She also thanked chief minister N Biren Singh for announcing Rs 1.3 crore for development of the Nupi Lal memorial complex during this year's observance on December 12 .

According to Bina, the association has long been demanding to name the road stretch from Sanjenthong to Keishampat bridge as Nupee Lal Ningshing Lambi and the same had been assured by the CM in 2019 .

However, no positive action has been initiated till date, she lamented, while urging the government to translate into action the commitment given to the people.
