Poll meetings of intending candidates continue

As part of her ongoing election campaign, BJP Manila Morcha Manipur Pradesh president L Loteeka, who is preparing to contest the polls from Uripok AC, addressed public meetings held at Uripok Khaidem Leikai and Sinam Leikai on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Loteeka stressed the need for participation of women representatives in the decision-making process of the state.
She then assured of taking up the key issues faced by women in the state assembly, in addition to taking up various programmes catering to the need women of the state if she got elected.
Meanwhile, retired IAS officer Khwairakparn Raghumani, who is also preparing to contest as BJP candidate from Uripok AC, has announced that he will distribute a monthly pension amount of Rs 1000 to the elderly citizens and women of the AC, who are already beneficiaries of the Old Age Pension and Widow Pension schemes, if he were to be elected as MLA of the constituency.
Announcing this during a public meeting held at Lamboi Khongnangkhong community hall on Thursday, Raghumani said that he will add an additional pension amount of Rs 500 to the monthly government pension of Rs 500 received by the elderly citizens and the women of the AC for the first year, while ensuring to cover all eligible beneficiaries in phase-by-phase manner, including those rendered ineligible of the schemes.
He also assured of generating job opportunities for the educated youth of the constituency.
Later, Raghumani distributed winter blankets to the elderly citizens to show his respect.
On the other hand, a one-day workers' meet was organised by Central Election Committee Kh Khamba at the residence of Khurai AC intending candidate Kh Khamba in Kongpal Laishram Leikai on Thursday".
The meeting was attended by Committee chief advisor T Nabachandra, president Th Mangibabu, Sairem village chief Kamei Dingkulung, Women's Wing president L Sanatombi, JD (U) Manipur vice president L Suresh and Kairang Khomidok GP ex-pradhan Md Nizamuddin along with Committee members and workers from 43 polling stations.
In his speech, Khamba remarked that Khurai AC has become an "impoverished" constituency in the last 5 years and as such, urged the people to use their franchise right carefully to avoid a similar situation for the next 5 years by electing a capable representative.
