Training on Bamboo and Cane Processing ends

The month-long, training programme on 'Bamboo and Cane Processing' organised jointly by North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) and Apunba Imagi Machas-ing (AIMS), Manipur with funding from North Eastern Council, Ministry of DoN-ER concluded at Manipur University Department of Forestry, on Wednesday.
The valedictory function was attended by NEC advisor (Horticulture) Mangsatabam Iboyaima Meitei and NECBDC managing director MC Omi Ningshen as chief guest and president respectively while MU School of Agricultural Science dean Prof Gopal Kumar Niroula Chhetry, retired Lt General Dr Konsam Himalay Singh, National Bamboo Mission, Manipur assistant mission director N-Somorendro Singh, CSIR-NEIST Imphal chief scientist Dr Huidrom Birkumar and AIMS president Mayanglambam Khelendro Singh were the guests of honour.
In his address, AIMS director Dr Atom Sunil said that the training programme has been conducted with the primary objective of developing economic activities of the internally displaced persons living in relief camps.
Altogether, 94 participants took part in the training programme.
