Imphal, July 30 2022: The All Manipur Individual Surrender Welfare Association (AMISWA) has appealed to the State Government to take a concrete stand for the wellbeing of all ex-militants (individual surrenderee) who have joined the mainstream during the second session of the State Legislative Assembly.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, AMISWA general secretary Abdul Latif stated that the State Government has not taken up any welfare measures for the individual surrenderees who have laid down their arms nearly 10 years ago, other than opening fixed deposit accounts for only about 100 of them.

Saying that there are about 680 individual surrenderees in Manipur and fixed deposit accounts have been opened for only 100 of them, he claimed that the State Government has also not released any stipend for the individual surrenderees till date.

He continued that surenderees could not live like normal people and work to make ends meet as the people stigmatise them.

Later, he announced that the All Manipur Hills and Valley Individual Surrender Welfare Association has been renamed as All Manipur Individual Surrender Welfare Association.
