Imphal, December 29 2021:
Former minister Dr Nimaichand Luwang has declared that the 2022 state assembly election will be his last election after which he will retire from active politics.
Interacting with media persons at State Guesthouse, Sanjenthong here on Wednesday, Dr Nimaichand Luwang, who began his political career in 1984 and had remained as ministers in different terms, said that he is confident of BJP getting thumping majority in the 2022 election which is why maximum of the intending candidates are vying for the party's ticket.
On the other hand, Congress party is gradually losing its ground and strength.
The party will not be able to field candidates in all the 60 assembly constituencies in the forthcoming election as several intending candidates, who were planning to fight on Congress ticket, are now shifting parties.
Taking a jibe on the political turncoats, who shifted allegiance from Congress to BJP in the current term, the BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson said that issuing party ticket to politicians, who do not understand constitution, democracy and 10th Schedule of the Constitution and lack discipline and ideologies, was the main reason behind the downfall of the party and it will continue to fall until the party realises this mistake, he said.
Congress party is calling applications for intending candidates and making them to deposit fund.
However, BJP will issue ticket to committed and sincere politicians after proper survey, he maintained.
Congress party has nothing to do but to count BJP flags.
Their leaders lack maturity and the 15 years of Congress rule was marked by fake encounters whereas, peace and tranquillity returned in the state under the BJP government.
Regarding his decision to leave Andro assembly constituency, he said that election in Andro assembly constituency is full of violence and added that he has no desire nor might to remain in such violent turf.
