Residents on bot'h flanks of Keibi Road have threatened to launch intense agitations if the road repair work is not initiated by October 15, in line with schedule of the PWD work order.
Addressing media persons at Tiger Camp village on behalf of 13 villages on Sunday, one Athokpam Kaoba Luwang said residents of Sawombung and Sagolmang were hopeful about improved roads once the repairing began.
As the road was dug up for repairing, which caused serious inconvenience to people settling along the Sagolmang and Sawombung stretch of the, the local population tolerated the same on the firm belief that the project would be executed swiftly.
However, the repair work has been lethargic, rendering the road impassable for vehicles for an extended period, he said adding that the condition of the same stretch deteriorated to such an extent that it is now no more motorable.
Upon reviewing the PWD work order, it came to light that the repair works were not executed as specified in the schedule, he said and expressed strong resentment the contractors concerned are executing the assignment at their own discretion, disregarding the established timeline.
As a result, the villagers will not remain silent if the repair works do not follow specifications mentioned in the PWD work order but launch intense protests, he warned.
