PRO details skill development initiatives

While informing that Assam Rifles has played a transformative role in Manipur, addressing socio-economic challenges through targeted skill development initiatives that empower women and youth, PRO IGAR (S) specified that over the past year, its efforts have positively impacted over 660 individuals across the state, equipping them with practical and vocational skills that generate employment, foster self-reliance, and provide hope in a region grappling with ethnic tensions and limited livelihood opportunities.
In a release, the PRO informed that in Imphal East and West districts, 164 boys and girls were trained in skill sets tailored to the hospitality sector, leading to job placements for 114 participants with elite hospitality groups across India.
In the hilly district of Ukhrul, 52 individuals were trained in practical trades like computer operations, carpentry, masonry, plumbing and vehicle mechanics, while 44 women mastered vocational skills such as baking, candle-making and jewellery-making, turning their talents into avenues of self-reliance.
It further mentioned that in Tengnoupal and Chandel areas, which often bear the brunt of limited connectivity and development, 72 men and women were equipped with valuable skills in carpentry, wall painting, masonry, plumbing, vehicle mechanics and tailoring.
Churachandpur benefitted from training 130 individuals who acquired expertise in computer literacy, woodwork, plumbing and vehicle mechanics, building pathways to economic stability.
In Thoubal and parts of Chandel, 202 individuals received training in diverse fields such as music, first aid, tailoring and other practical trades.
