Imphal, July 24 2024:
Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) has stated that no individual or organisation should demand donations from residents in Uripok area.
However, if donations are absolutely necessary, then UAL or Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup (UNAL) should be contacted directly.
In a statement, UAL said that along with UNAL, it has been extending assistance to the internally displaced persons staying in relief camps and volunteers deployed in conflict areas since the crisis broke out on May 3 last year, and continuing the same till date.
The statement also reported that over 1000 displaced people are taking shelter in the relief camp set up at the Trade and Expo Centre in Lamboi Khongnangkhong.
UAL and UNAL, in coordination with the relief committee, have been extending aid to the displaced people including a 17-year-old girl who underwent treatment in Guwahati.
Considering social activism of the Lups, made possible with generous donations from the public, no individuals, groups, and organisations should insist on monetary donations from Uripok residents but approach UAL and UNAL directly in case of necessity for donations, the statement added.
