Imphal, October 22 2021:
Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) has strongly condemned the arrest of All Tribal Union, Manipur (ATUM) working president Romeo Bungdon Anal by the state police on October 18 and asserted that Romeo is not a member of NSCN in any capacity.
A press release issued by CNPO publicity wing stated that Romeo is the working president of ATUM and anything charged against him beyond his actual identity would be false allegations.
"We strongly condemn misuse of power by the state police," it said and demanded that the police authority concerned submit a report on the facts of the case at the earliest.
CNPO will not remairi a mute spectator for violation of human rights.
The state government should not take away the rights of its citizens on flimsy ground and inflict irreparable damage to the society, it further cautioned.
