Imphal, December 18 2024:
A Need-based Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organised by Helping Hands for People (HHP), Manipur at JNIMS Blood Centre, Porompat on Wednesday with the aim to achieve 100 per cent voluntary blood donation (VBD) contribution rate.
Speaking in connection with the camp to media persons, HHP, Manipur president Premjit Moirangthem informed that presently VBD contribution has reached 38 per cent at JNIMS Blood Centre, where patients in need of blood at JNIMS Hospital may avail blood without replacement in 51 per cent cases, which has somewhat eased the problem faced by patients.
Mentioning that if more people volunteer to donate blood then the VBD contribution rate can reach 100 per cent, he noted that if the rate reaches 100 per cent then cancer, kidney, dengue, thalassemia, aplastic anaemia and liver diseases patients, who require blood transfusion regularly, will have convenient access to blood.
Premjit also appealed to the youth to donate blood so that the organisation's Mission 100 pc VBD campaign is achieved.
He further informed that 247 donors volunteered for the camp, out of which 89 donated blood as the JNIMS Blood Centre was in need of 50 units of blood.
The remaining volunteers would be urged to attend the next blood donation camp, he said.
