VDF Guardian Association stages sit-in protest at Ava Market

Ukhrul, July 18 2022: Ukhrul & Kamjong VDF Guardian Association on Monday stage a sit-in protest in support of the demands of Village Defence Force (VDF) at Ava Market Phungreitang, Ukhrul.

It may be noted that some of their demands include increasing the salary of VDF personnel, allotting 13 months honorarium, regularization of their services by framing rules and regulation, formation of a separate battalion for VDF personnel, implementing a pension system, among others.

Speaking to media persons, the .

protestors pointed out that VDF personnel are allotted and assigned the same work like any other police personnel.

However, the low honorarium given to VDF personnel is not enough to make ends meet with the increasing price of essential items.

The protesters also appealed to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to intervene and fulfill the demands of VDF at the earliest.

Placards with the slogans, "Regularise VDF personnel by framing RR", "Separate battalion for VDF", "We support VDF demand", etc were used at the protest.
