Bridge repaired, traffic along NH-37 resumes

Imphal, August 17 2021: A loaded truck got stuck in the middle of a suspension bridge near Nung Dolan area along the Imphal-Jiribam (NH-37) road thereby disrupting vehicular movement along the highway since Monday afternoon.

However, the bridge has been repaired after pulling out the truck jointly by workers of Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA) and National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) thereby restoring vehicular rhovement along the highway from late Tuesday afternoon.

According to information provided by MDA assistant secretary Ningthou Koireng, a loaded truck carrying cement coming from Jiribam got stuck in the middle of the suspension bridge late Monday afternoon.

Some iron plates of the bridge were damaged when the truck slipped thereby halting vehicular movement.

However, workers of MDA and NHIDCL jointly removed the truck and restored movement of vehicle after repairing all the damaged iron plates.
