Imphal, June 16 2021:
Hectic works are going on to make functional the 100 bedded ICU ward at JNIMS hospital which was inaugurated by chief minister N Biren Singh on June 12 and the ward is likely to be functional within short notice.
A source from JNIMS informed that functioning of the ICU ward got delayed even after inauguration by chief minister due to some reason but most of the shortages have been addressed.
Discussion is on between the government and JNIMS officials to make the same functional after readying all the equipment as some necessary equipment cannot stop once the operation begins and testing of all the machines have been completed.
For the convenience of COVID-19 patients, preparations are being made to begin functioning of the ward at the earliest possible, the source informed and adding that liquid medical oxygen would arrive at JNIMS Thursday to be supplied at the ward as huge amount of oxygen will be needed once the ICU ward is functional.
If arrived, there will be no shortage of oxygen at this ward and everything possible has been done to install the machine by Thursday and make it operational.
