Imphal, May 15 2022: A team of Imphal East District Women police station on Saturday arrested a man accused of outraging modesty of a young married woman.

The arrested man has been identified as Md Azmal Shah alias Amusana (37) s/o Abdul Kadir Shah of Khabeisoi Karongthong.

According to a police report, the married woman herself filed a complaint at Imphal East District Police, accusing Md Azmal Shah of abducting her and then sexually assaulting her.

She also accused him (Azmal) of forcefully detaining her.

Based on the complaint, a team of the Women PS registered an FIR against Azmal on the charge of rape, wrongful confinement and kidnapping and arrested him on Saturday.

He was produced before the District Magistrate Imphal East on Sunday, which then remanded him to 4 days in police custody.
