Imphal, January 15 2022:
While outrightly condemning Kolkata-based organisation Amra Bangali for filing a PIL against the implementation of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur in the Supreme Court, Devalaya Committee advisor MK Roy has demanded the organisation to withdraw the PIL.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, MK Roy said thatthe public movement for ILPS implementation was carried out for a long time and the state had faced multiple hardships during the movement including death of protestors.
Bengalis living in Manipur have always been supporting the movement and there are several Bengali people in Manipur who have become native of the state and are living like brothers with the indigenous people of the state.
The PIL filed by Amra Bangali against ILPS has the potential to drive a wedge in the existing bond among the people of the state, he said while condemning the organisation for its interference and demanding it to withdraw the PIL at the earliest.
